Niroshan Srinivasagam – Leader of YAM
The journey of YAM started with God given vision in 2012 to self at Young Adults camp organized by my local church.
It all started submission to God wanting inner change in life and on last day of camp God begun to speak by using a young person life testimony challenge self re-commit to God.
After 30 years I was in a need of a fresh journey with God. There were many things I cannot mention because my life was with full of shameful addiction and as child it started and grew and in my teens I was so much caught up with addictions which came to point I can convince God it is normal and took granted God loves me he will always forgive me from my wrong doings.
One thing I did not realize I was salve of so many sins. Today when I look back my life I’m so thankful opening my blindness, God directed me to a group of friends I met at camp to keep with them in regular contact by meeting up for prayers and we started praying as a small group thorough out 2013 and did small programs in my town.
In 2014 God open door’s for our first out-reach trip to visit one of our church branch in North of Sri Lanka, I lead team of 10 young people from same prayer group and we ministered for 80 Young people in the local church and Without any ministry experience I was share the last note with Youth’s and Wondering what to share? Holy Spirit prompted me share about my life testimony and I did so as act of obedience.
The outcome that sharing is all you witness about Young Adults ministries today. Since 2014 till now I have had the privilege shared God’s vision & love to more than 25 churches in my nation touching over 3000 youth’s thru Mission Trips, Youth Camps, Leadership Conference and today 20 faithful volunteers working together towards our “Vision build Youth Leaders in Nations”.
It’s always a humbling and overwhelming experience to share God’s love with rural area churches never had youth empathies and connect with dis-connected Youths to give them the hope one day you can be leader in church to support the next generation of youth giving leadership & guidance.
Young Adults Ministries It’s all about helping churches give encouragement you can be better leaders of tomorrow whichever the area gods calls you to be leader.
Yohan Asiri – Head of Programs and Partnerships at YAM
Greetings! My name is Yohan Asiri Kumarathunga, and I have served YAM at past eight years. Although most of my 14 years in ministry have been spent planning youth activities, God spoke to my heart to accepting the call of YAM. He gave me a new vision for helping existing youths in churches that are plateaued or in decline to revitalize their ministry. For the past eight years now we have been working to revitalize the ministry of youth.
It’s my belief that God gives us all gifts, special abilities that we have the privilege of developing to help us serve Him and humanity. YAM is our way of serving God’s in multidenominational Church. We want to help empower every Young Adults to know God and be like Jesus in the ways they love and serve others, and my desire is the same for churches, families, communities and Young Adults. We aim to create experiences that broaden perspectives, ignite passions, expose possibilities and inspire pursuits.
A primary role of the Head of Programs and Partnerships is to develop youth programs, including monthly youth group meetings, Monthly prayer meeting, retreats, mission’s trips & Annual Camps. Also creating opportunity for Youth Leaders to meet on a forum to learn about God in a friendly way. We also develop relationships with the youth. This might we involve to nurture young Christians or to help teens struggling with academic or behavioral challenges. Finally we can provide the good leaders to church & the community.
Natasha Solomon – Head of Women Minsitry at YAM
I’m so humble and honor to be a part of YAM journey from start. Coming from very strong Roman Catholic connection and living on those believes for 28 years it was really hard time for me to adopt to Christian background soon after I got married to my husband. But nevertheless it’s so amazing to look back how God had a plan in my life to serve for his kingdoms work.
Soon after I got married in year 2012 December It was a puzzle for me how I’m going to manage two denomination in my life.
After few months past I saw and observed how God was planning and doing all great and good things in my Husband life. This was a turning point for me to look at my husband’s life and to search and have thirst for God. After few months I was called for an encounter camp in March 9 2014 that was a real call from God and I obey for his calling. I received Holy Spirit baptism and tongues, and I released that God calling me to serve him and he has choose me to be a supportive wife to my husband’s passion.
From 2014 being active participant and started supporting on YAM ministries. The travel for last year’s throughout this ministry God has been so wonderful, amazing and miraculous in our life. He comfort me, and gave more and more strength each and every day. Actually I can say YAM ministries corrected my life journey and help me to be blessing for many women.
Soon after I got my little girl Nitara I realized that God is calling me for a specific ministry. In small number last year we started YAM women’s ministry where our women’s team will meet up for prayers. Truly this prayer meeting was blessing for all our YAM ladies especially who have small toddlers. I really believe that God is not seeking numbers he just need our availability. No matter how we are busy in many ways but, we should be available for his kingdom work. That’s the only reason we are here to serve him. Finally my only humble prayers that God will open many doors through this ministry to reach more and many women’s.
Georgini George Wilfred Roy – Head of Marketing & Communication at YAM
God has given me the precious call to join the greatest YAM Team & showed his grace to serve him through this ministry. YAM Team has a greater plan & purpose of God to reach many unreached for Christ.
I grew up in a Christian family so I have known Jesus since I was a kid, which I am really thankful for. I got married in 2013, God gave me a blessed child of God as my life partner. After three years of marriage life I got conceived with the grace of God. I had many complication during my pregnancy & led to a severe medical condition. During the fourth months of my pregnancy I had to go through a surgery called cervical cerclage due to my cervix was at risk of opening before my baby is ready to be born. I was in the bed rest for many weeks & this led me via an untold depression. When I was in 7 months & one week of pregnancy, my water bag leaked & I was hospitalized for few days & prepared for a premature baby delivery. We had to face a battle for life and death.
God gave me the strength to overcome all complications & give a normal birth to my beloved Son Craig. He was 1Kg 540g in weight, later lose 200g, became 1Kg 340g only & he was treated inside the Incubator. Baby had severe problems & beyond medical cure. God helped us to overcome Medical, Physical & Financial crises. Our Pediatrician Doctor had no hope in him but God kept a major plan in our life, miraculously healed us & helped us to comeback home after 22 days. God protected our son in all ways, gave new life & because of him we can see the world as a complete family. God’s strength is made perfect in weakness, God never leave us nor forsake us & his goodness endures forever.
I thank God for using me as a living testimony to encourage those who are in hopeless situation to hold onto and develop faith in God. I believe that God will do greater things through this wonderful ministry from Good to Great.
C. B. Wilfred Roy – Head of Youth Co-ordinator at YAM
I thank God for giving me an opening to join in YAM Journey with Brother Niroshan & Team to serve Mighty God who wanted to connect with him to fulfill his plans.
I grew up in a Christian family & my childhood was normal with a happy family. My entire life shook when my father left the family & parents were separated. My mother sent me to a Christian orphanage at Trincomalee when I was 11 years & thereafter I had to continue my studies there. I’m the only child who was educated & cared there who had both parents. My childhood was truly frustrated, full of sadness & I loved to be alone. In the meantime life passed, I was trained & guided by my Guardian Rev. Andrew Cherubim at the Orphanage. I was well trained to handle all my works, help others, educated, get more care & love, learn more about Jesus & whole my lifestyle changed. I grownup as a good child of God.
I came back to Colombo when my father passed away & thereafter I stayed in Colombo. I just spend my time with friends & addicted to all bad habits. I just act as a Christian for the name sake & I had close relationship with Christian friends who also followed wicked ways.
One good day I went for a youth camp, God touched & changed my life upside down. From that moment on I started to get more and more in contact with Jesus’ love. In the beginning it was really hard, but the more people talked to me about Christ and how He did things out of the deepest love that can ever exist, it began to touch me because I knew how powerful love was . Soon, I realized who Jesus is and why He is the Savior. I turned to God from my normal routine & started to serve him. Also he gave me a wonderful family filled with God’s miracles.
Now God is using me for the betterment of his Kingdom by sharing my life experience which I gained in my hostel. I believe in God that he could do greater things through my lifetime testimony to change many youths lifestyle who experience the similar issues I had gone through.
God has a much bigger plan and works in His timing, He was there working before I even realized who he was.
